Check engine Light

Hey guys I have a question, Does anyone in the club have something you can plug into the car that will tell me what the check engine light is on for. I may be totally crazy but I swore i heard that there is a little device of some wort that will tell you the error code or what not. My light is on and before I take it and pay a ton of money I would like to see if its something I may be able to fix easily.

i got a scan tool so you can stop by anytime.

or you could stop by like an Autozone and they will hook it up for you for free too.
